Mental Health Awareness!!

Gumboot Friday - Supporting

             Mental Health

Jumbo - Welcome back bloggers to another good post of mine.
On Tuesday 10th of March our syndicate went around posting positive
letters to houses all around our community for Gumboot Friday. Gumboot
Friday is all about raising awareness about mental health and supporting the
people with mental health problems, having empathy for the people that
struggle with it. Our school brought our gumboots to help support - the
reason gumboots are worn is because having bad mental health can feel
like you are going through mud like going through negative thoughts.

We all wrote at least 3 positive quotes / messages to help people think good
things about themselves. The idea all started when we filled in a Healthy
Puketapapa Student Questionnaire, we got the mental health idea because
a lot of people circled that for what they thought would make our community
better. A girl named Neeve at our school came up with the idea of posting
positive notes in people's letter boxes. This mental health idea also relates
to our school focus topic - Hauora - Wellbeing.

Every year we have a different focus and this years is the best
(In my opinion.) I think Gumboot Friday Is a good idea and I think every year
we should post positive letters to help people think good things about
themselves. Next time we are going to write on the bottom ‘’ Please pass
this on ‘’ and hopefully they will get passed on and will go further than our
area / community! Here is a link to the Gumboot Friday give a little page.
I hope you have a lovely day! Blog ya later!

Swimming ports

            ๐ŸŠ Junior / Senior Swimming!! ๐ŸŒŠ

Good evening bloggers, On Thursday 4th of April and in week 5 the Seniors and the Juniors had there swimming sports. Yesterday the seniors had there swimming sports at Cameron Pools. Everyone had to do 2 different races - backstroke and freestyle, I came 4th in both of the races out of 7 people. There were different groups, there were the Year 5 Girls / boys, Year 6 girls / boys, Year 4 girls / boys, Year 3 Girls / boys. We each had our own lane to race in, if we came 1st, 2nd or 3rd - we were in the relays. There were house relays and there were students / teacher relays. Our house group won the 1st relays and in the second relay I was in it with my year 6 friends, Neeve, Zoe, me and some others. We came 3rd in that relay, one of the teachers won! The Juniors had there swimming sports in week 5 in our small school pool and In a few years they will go to Cameron Pools, Just like us!! Unfortunately there isn't any photo's of the seniors swimming. Here is our link to our school site if you would like to see all the activities and sports / fun days we do!                        Blog ya later!!

Tread Lightly Caravan

               Tread Lightly Caravan๐Ÿš†

Kia ora bloggers, welcome back to another good post of mine. This morning my class (Hauraki) had a session with the Tread Lightly crew. The Tread Lightly Caravan is a session were you learn all about our water ways and how to keep them clean and what you can and cannot put down drains, sinks, toilets and many more. We split into 3 groups to do different activities, inside was colouring and looking in the virtual reality headsets to see the problems rubbish causes in the sea. Outside, 1 group looked at all our school drains and had to discuss what was in the drain and how to we could improve our drains. Another outside activity was to learn what things you can and cannot put in drains, sinks, toilets and the rubbish bins! All the groups switched and everyone had a turn at every activity. I enjoyed our session, my favourite bit was learning new things about what you can put down the drains, sinks, toilets and rubbish bins! I thinks more schools should do this so we can keep our animal and plants alive longer. By and I'll see you again with my next post!  Click here for the site link!

Family fun day!

๐ŸŽ‰ Our Community Fun Day ๐ŸŽˆ

Jumbo bloggers! This week our school had the best family fun day on the 22nd of March. There was a bouncy castle, games, wheels fun, water slide, bake sale and more. On the day everyone had to bring $3 to help fund-raise money for the surprise (that ended up being a awesome bouncy castle with a obstacle course!!) The staff also had lots of fun, lots of adults were racing each other on the bouncy castle but one was the overall winner. . . . Mr. Rattenbury!! I had a blast at the fun day, my favourite bit was the bouncy castle because I got to do it with my amazing friends! Everyone (even the adults) had to dress in their house colours depending on which house group they were in. The 4 house groups are, Pukeko - green, Kea - red, Ruru - blue and Tui - yellow and also the best house group because I am in it! As each group finished doing their activities, we had a 2 minute silence like the rest of NZ to remember the lives that were lost in the shooting. In the end everyone had the best day I wish we could do it again! Blog ya later! Here is a slideshow showing how much fun we had and I will see you next time bloggers!! Take a look๐Ÿ˜€

The Christchurch tragedy

Our 2 minute silence on our community fun day

                 Our special assembly

Welcome back wonderful bloggers, on Friday 15th of March one of New Zealand's most saddest tragedies happened in the afternoon. For those of you that don't know what happened, there was a big mass shooting in Christchurch that killed 50 people. That cultures religion was Muslim and luckily the person that was shooting was arrested - hopefully for a life sentence. The shooters father had just died and so the person was somehow angry and started shooting because he didn't like the Muslim culture being in NZ, giving no one enough warning. All the local schools had to go on a 4 hour lock down. This also shows how rare this comes especially in New Zealand. School's all around should practise what to do in a lock down in case a tragedy happens again. As well as doing the special assembly we also did some reading activities that related to the shooting. We wish the people of Christchurch all the best. Here is a link to our reading work about the shooting. Sharing love, not hate! Blog ya later!! If you would like to see the Give a Little page click on this link to see how much has being raised!

We planed a special to remind us that no matter what
our culture or raise is we are the same no matter what.

Here is some cards from us to send of to
the mosques that have been affected.

Syndicate treaty

Syndicate Treaty

Jumbo bloggers, welcome back to another fabulous blog post of mine.
To start off this year our syndicate has made a treaty of all the rules the
we agreed on. On it has our 5 articles - People, Property, Safety,
Learning and rules for home like make good choices on what you eat like
fruit for brain food. I think a treaty is a good idea because than every
- body knows the rules and also because it means that people can follow
the rules because the treaty will be hanging on the wall. After we made
the treaty we all signed it with a special Fountain pen that a kid named
Rio at our school bought. For those of you that don't know what a
fountain pen is, it is a pen the either needs ink in it to write or has in it
already to write with. The rule that most relates to me is - Ask questions
- Be curious! I think our treaty turned out really good and I think we
should do one each year! Well that's it from me and I'll see you again
when I write another post.๐Ÿ˜€

My GTKY

Getting to know you forms

Konichiwa bloggers, lately we have been working on our getting to know
you forms and almost everyone has finished, the whole point of doing a
getting to know you form is so we can get to know everyone. We will
have it on a shelf so everyone can learn new things about each other.
I enjoyed doing this task because I like writing about myself and what
I like and what I dislike and I also liked the bit about how people got to
know me more. I also liked how we got to be creative with what we
wrote and we got to write whatever we wanted about ourselves. I have
taken a photo of my form and linked it, come check my form out!  Enjoy
and I’ll blog ya later!:-)
