Summer Learning Journey

      Summer Learning Journey

Welcome back bloggers, welcome to the first week of the Summer Learning Journey. For our first week, we are going to be learning all about the land habitats here in Aotearoa New Zealand and write down facts we find on a New Zealand site. Here are facts that I found on a New Zealand website. I hope you learn some interesting facts! Enjoy bloggers😀

  • The Maori name of New Zealand is Aotearoa which means the land of the long white cloud.
  • The official language is English and Maori.
  • New Zealand is one of the world’s least populated countries with over 4 million populations.
  • There are no snakes in the country!
  • 30% of the country is forest.

  1. Kia ora Chimay,

Congratulations on completing your very first activity on the Summer Learning Journey this year. I am so excited to see so many of the students from Waikowhai, kick starting their journey so early. This is incredible. We have about 80 students already participating in the programme this year. Isn't that incredible.

What a great way to kick start your journey, you have shared three really interesting facts. I also learnt that 30% of New Zealand was covered by forest. This is why our country is so unique and beautiful. I am lucky enough to live on the edge of a native bush, which is like a small scale forest. We have so many beautiful native birds visiting our back yard, such as, tui's, fantail's, and kereru's. Have you been to a forest in New Zealand before? If so, what kind of plants or animals did you come across?

It’s awesome to see that you have included some great information about your home country. Please remember that when you find information online you must put it into your own words. Please rethink and re-word the parts of your post that are not in your own words. This will help me see that you have put a lot of thought into your activity and I can be sure that you have not copied it from the internet.

For future posts, please make sure any information you use is paraphrased (written in your own words) to make sure you receive full points for activities.

Thank you for starting the programme so promptly. I am excited to see more of your incredible posts over the summer.

    Kindest regards,
    Megan :)
